We invited Stephanie Itule, Director of Business Development from the high-end luxury “Avenue two Travel” corporation to check out our Un-Highlights Tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
Here’s what Stephanie and her colleagues had to say about their Museum Hack experience!
“We had so much fun! The proof was that my boss was not excited about taking a tour of the Met (he had been there before, was just going because I wanted to go) and he loved it.
I was a little worried because there were some “sh*ts” and “f-bombs” during the tour and since our agency is very much a “luxury” agency, I thought he would be turned off. But no. He thought it made it interesting, entertaining, and fun.
Of course, we as travel agents, will need to be cognizant of the “informality” of the tour and pair it with the right clients.
My other colleague who joined us is in her late 20’s and the tour was right up her alley. She enjoyed the pop culture references and energy of our guide.
I have an art background and previously worked for an art museum and thoroughly enjoyed the tour as well. Hearing the stories about how the pieces were acquired, the historical context, and the juicy gossip was so entertaining! So much easier to remember, even when you have an interest in art. It made for a very fun day.
At the end of the tour, both my boss and colleague agreed that they would not hesitate to recommend the tour to the right clients, especially those who have been to New York many times. The Un-highlights Tour was particularly great for those people who say they’ve “done it before”. The length of the tour was perfect as well. Just enough to avoid burn out.
